Can You Reach Your Ideal Body Weight?

You might be wondering if it is possible for you to ever reach your ideal body weight. Maybe you’ve tried dieting for years and you’ve never been able to lose the weight. If this sounds like you, don’t give up yet! There are steps that you can take to lose weight and much more importantly keep the weight off. First, we should review the things that you shouldn’t do when trying to lose weight.

Things You Shouldn’t Do When Trying to Lose Weight

  • Expect instant results
  • Keep trying the same things and getting the same results
  • Buy diet-related foods and products
  • Eat fast food, processed foods, and junk food
  • Drink sugar-laden drinks and so-called “diet” sodas
  • Don’t try to lose weight via fad diets that restrict nutrition

All too often people turn to processed diet foods and sodas to lose weight; however, this decision is not usually effective for long-term results. Plus, the ingredients in these foods are largely the same as you would find in other processed foods, and that means they are bad for you. Diet sodas are remarkably bad for human health and are really nothing more than a collection of chemicals and artificial sweeteners that have been shown to promote disease. Is this too rough of an assessment? Do your own research on artificial sweeteners and see what you think!

The bottom line is that if you want to reach your ideal weight, you need to say goodbye to all processed foods including those disguised as diet foods. If diet foods worked, people would tell their friends about their great results. We wouldn’t have obesity, childhood obesity, heart disease, and diabetes epidemics! Stop hitting your head against the wall and realize that no matter what these products promise, they will not deliver, period.

So what should you do instead if you want to reach your ideal weight? Let’s take a look.

  • Eat healthy, whole foods such as fruits, vegetables, high-quality proteins, beans, nuts, seeds and drink plenty of purified water.
  • Don’t expect amazing and totally remarkable overnight results.
  • Exercise more even if that only means walking more and carrying groceries an extra block from your car to your house.
  • Consider working with a nutritionist who has a proven track record of results.
  • Eliminate processed foods and sugary drinks including so-called “energy drinks” and “sports drinks,” which are loaded with chemicals, food colorings, and even pesticides.
  • Find people that are willing to encourage and help you.
  • Eat food that is high in nutrition
  • Don’t be afraid of all fat. Trans fat such as fried food and too much fat is the real problem. Good fat such as olive oil and omega-3 rich foods like sardines, walnuts and wild Alaskan salmon can make you healthier.
  • Quit smoking. Non-smokers have a higher chance of long-term weight loss. It also goes without saying that it is far easier to exercise once you’ve kicked a smoking habit.

You can reach your ideal weight, but it will mean changing your lifestyle and what you believe is possible. If you take a different approach and are patient, you will lose weight and feel better in the process.
